I Am Running In 2007 Because

Over the past sixteen years, I have twelve years experience on the Planning Commission and four years experience on the Hanover County Board of Supervisors. I have the background, understanding, and experience to handle the complex issues that a Board member must deal with every day. Three areas that will demand my attention in my next term will be Hanover’s progress into the future.

MAINTAINING
Maintaining and improving Hanover’s quality of life is my guiding principle. Your concerns about Schools, Law Enforcement, Fire and EMS, and Human Services will continue to be my top priorities. These are examples of what distinguishes Hanover County as a great place to live.

ENHANCING
Enhancing tax relief offerings for our seniors and disabled citizens will continue to be my prime focus during my next term as your representative to the Board of Supervisors. I will work with our General Assembly Members to restructure the tax system giving our citizens additional relief from real estate taxes. Intensify efforts to provide an atmosphere that is conducive to attracting and retaining businesses in Hanover County, a major source of tax revenue. The desired result is a more equitable balance of our business and personal tax bases to further assist in keeping our real estate taxes low.

CONTINUING
Continuing efforts to complete unfinished issues in the Chickahominy District. This includes: finalizing the financing for Sharon Park sewer system; road safety improvements for Atlee Station Road; and study other sections of roads in the district for safety improvements, such as lower speed limits and traffic signals.
